We, twelve Yale undergraduates (Evan, Andrew, Chris, Barrett, Sarah, Amanda, Haley, Abigail, Daniel, Alana, Garrett and Allie ) came Ghana in March 2008 to do our part as citizens of the world by shouldering the UN’s mission to reduce extreme poverty by 2015.
Equipped with twelve used, donated Dell laptops, we set up this computer lab complete with internet access in a primary school here in Berekum. Managed by a partnership between the Swedish NGO, World of Friends, and a local educator, Dr. Nana Ababio.
During our one-week stay, we setup this computer lab and also provided training in Crochet, Soccer, Photography and Computer training, etc which are indispensable to these students’ successful futures as global citizens.
While small in scale, to the children of this school our project will greatly enhance their understanding of the world.
